Dana and Chad’s Wedding in Austin!

We were really excited to head to Austin, Texas this last weekend to photograph the wedding of Dana and Chad. Chad, Shad and I all went to high school together so it was great to see an old friend get married. Dana and Chad have been together for a long time so everyone was happy that the big day had finally arrived. They were married at a good friends house, The Lightheart Ranch. It was an amazing setting. Dana looked incredible and had a great time getting photographed. The wedding went well and the reception was under a tent just a few feet from some Texas longhorns. While the longhorns enjoyed some straw we were all treated to some yummy barbeque. The weather was perfect and it couldn’t have been a more wonderful wedding. Congratulations Dana and Chad! We loved being a part of your big day!

MacKenzie and Dennis 5.29.2010

MacKenzie and Dennis were married on May 29th at the Dayton Art Institute. They are a great couple that both serve in the United States Air Force. We love weddings at the Dayton Art Institute. It’s beautiful there and it’s also near some of our favorite urban locations.  Here are some of our faves from the day. Enjoy!

Dennis learned a valuable lesson on his wedding day! What goes around, comes around. Dennis made a special toast to his sister on her wedding day and she returned the favor by sharing some special stories from their childhood.

Lindsay and Chris

Lindsay and Chris were married on May 23rd in Xenia. It was an honor to work with such an amazing family. Chris and Lindsay are a great couple and we were thrilled to spend their wedding day with them. The ceremony took place at Collier Chapel on the Xenia Christian Campus.  After the ceremony, we headed over to the reception at The Schindler Banquest Center which always looks beautiful. It was a great day and we were happy to work with some of our favorite vendors such as Lifetime Video and Aviva Events.  I hope you enjoy their images!

Maria and Andy’s May 22nd Wedding

Maria and Andy were married on May 22, 2010 at Mount St. John in Beavercreek.  Maria was a beautiful bride and I love this image of her and her mother.    011016Mount St. John’s is a beautiful ceremony location and the parents started the ceremony off nicely by lighting the candles. 019024026Shad and I took the guys to the “Power House” for pictures and before we could get too far we heard demands for pictures with the grill.  “It’s fate”…”It was meant to be”…”You gotta get a picture with the grill”…and before I knew it, the grill was being wheeled into the parking lot.  This is not normally the type of images that I take at weddings but I felt like this request was different though…like Andy had a special kind of love for the grill and anything related to it.  So here’s the shot.  Andy was thrilled, and I was thrilled that Andy was thrilled.    032Before we left the ground of Mount St. John, we found a beautiful grassy field and took advantage of it.034On our way to the reception, we stopped off at a surprise location for Andy and Maria.  Maria had a great time showing off her dress and her personality in this shot.041

Karen and Thomas <3 An Engagement Session!

We recently photographed Karen and Thomas. They are both students and we had a great time during the session! We loved Karen’s shyness and Thomas’s unusual sense of humor! They are a great couple and definitely have “chemistry!”  (Ok – Thomas is working on his PhD in Chemical Engineering and frequently includes the periodic table in his wardrobe!) Shad and I are really looking forward to their wedding!

Heather and Nick 3.21.2010

My good friend and fellow photographer, Nick, of 808 Studios married Heather on March 21, 2010. They chose to get married on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. I felt very honored to be a part of the their special day. Nick and Heather made sure that the whole trip would be memorable for all of their guests. On Saturday, the day before the wedding, we took family pictures on the beach. The weather was perfect and I know that their families will always cherish those images. Next, we headed to the rehearsal. Nick has been to more weddings than I can count so the rehearsal went well and everyone was ready for wedding day. After the rehearsal, we took a break for lunch and then everyone, including all the guests, met up for a putt-putt tournament. They chose a fun pirate-themed place and all of the kids (and well… Nick) wore eye patches during the tournament. It was really a great time. Later that evening, everyone was invited to attend the rehearsal dinner hosted by Nick’s parents. It was a wonderful evening. All of the kids had a great time running and playing and the adults enjoyed the company and the wonderful southern bar-b-que. The big day finally arrived and unfortunatly so did some rain! The ceremony was set for outdoors, so we were all a little nervous leading up to the ceremony. In the end, the bad weather cleared and Nick and Heather were able to get married outdoors as they had originally planned! Phew! The ceremony was beautiful. Heather and Nick had each guest right a single word on a rock that would summarize a wish for their marriage and during the ceremony, they collected the rocks. It was really moving and I know that those rocks will always bring them beautiful memories of their wedding day and of all of the friend and family that shared it with them. Nick and Heather were both emotional during the vows and it teared me up to watch a good friend get married. After the ceremony, the couple joined all of the guests for the cocktail hour. After that followed dinner and dancing. It was such a fun evening and everyone stayed until the very end. The next morning, we were up very early and we met Heather and Nick at their rental house so that we could head out to the beach and do sunset pictures. It was quite cold that morning but Heather was a trooper! We got some amazing images. At the end of the session, Nick grabbed a camera and took some images of his beautiful bride. Thank you Heather and Nick for letting Shad and I and our family be a part of your wedding. We wish you a lifetime of happiness and love!

Below are some of my favorite images. I’m sure that I will update the blog with some more as we finish editing all of them. Enjoy!

Erin and Duncan – Two Weddings on One Day!

We’ve never had a wedding where we had two ceremonies on the same day. I will explain that in a moment. Erin and Duncan are a great couple! They crack us up and were one of the funniest couples that we’ve worked with! They were married on September 19, 2009 at the Wiedemann Hill Mansion  in Newport, Kentucky. It is a beautiful location with an amazing view of Cincinnati. All the details were gorgeous thanks to Heidi at I Thee Wed Wedding Planning. The day was perfect except….. right before the ceremony, the officiant realized that the marriage license was from Ohio (where the couple resides) but we were in Kentucky. They quickly worked out a plan to drive across the state line after the ceremony and perform a second ceremony in Ohio before the officiant had to rush off to another wedding. Shad and I drove the couple across the state line and photographed the street-side second ceremony and then whisked them back in time for the reception. It was quite a day and certainly one wedding that I will always remember! This was all a little stressful for Erin,  hopefully she can giggle about it now!

0012 0042 Here is the when Erin and Duncan saw eachother before the ceremony so we could get all of the formals done before the wedding! It was a beautiful moment!

Amy and Matthew 9.12.2009

Amy and Matthew were married on September 12, 2009 at Country Club of the North. The couple saw eachother before the ceremony and we shot at some of my favorite places in Dayton. Afterwards, we headed back to the club for a beautiful outdoor ceremony. The weather was perfect. We had a great time at the reception. The details were amazing and the music was great thanks to the Jack Garrett Band .  It was a perfect day. Congratulations Amy and Matthew!

Meredith and Jason

Shad and I left St. Mary’s Ohio and headed back to Dayton. On Sunday September 6th we were up early and on our way to Chillicothe Ohio to photograph the second wedding of the weekend. We really love photographing in a new place so we were really excited despite all of the miles we were traveling this weekend! Meredith and Jason were married at her mom’s house and everything was just beautiful.
