MacKenzie and Dennis were married on May 29th at the Dayton Art Institute. They are a great couple that both serve in the United States Air Force. We love weddings at the Dayton Art Institute. It’s beautiful there and it’s also near some of our favorite urban locations. Here are some of our faves from the day. Enjoy!

Dennis learned a valuable lesson on his wedding day! What goes around, comes around. Dennis made a special toast to his sister on her wedding day and she returned the favor by sharing some special stories from their childhood.

As many of you know, I am the 2010 President of Professional Photographers of Southwest Ohio. We are really excited about our upcoming June workshop with Ken Kneringer. Ken is an amazing senior photographer and you can see his work at his website. The workshop will be on Monday, June 7th and is from 9am to 9pm. The workshop fee includes lunch and dinner. Registrants are encouraged to bring their cameras and laptops. The workshop takes place at Cox Arboretum, a beautiful park here in Dayton. The workshop is a great way to learn, grow and get to know other photographers in our area. I hope to see you all there! If you would like to register contact me for more information.

We recently photographed Karen and Thomas. They are both students and we had a great time during the session! We loved Karen’s shyness and Thomas’s unusual sense of humor! They are a great couple and definitely have “chemistry!” (Ok – Thomas is working on his PhD in Chemical Engineering and frequently includes the periodic table in his wardrobe!) Shad and I are really looking forward to their wedding!

My good friend and fellow photographer, Nick, of 808 Studios married Heather on March 21, 2010. They chose to get married on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. I felt very honored to be a part of the their special day. Nick and Heather made sure that the whole trip would be memorable for all of their guests. On Saturday, the day before the wedding, we took family pictures on the beach. The weather was perfect and I know that their families will always cherish those images. Next, we headed to the rehearsal. Nick has been to more weddings than I can count so the rehearsal went well and everyone was ready for wedding day. After the rehearsal, we took a break for lunch and then everyone, including all the guests, met up for a putt-putt tournament. They chose a fun pirate-themed place and all of the kids (and well… Nick) wore eye patches during the tournament. It was really a great time. Later that evening, everyone was invited to attend the rehearsal dinner hosted by Nick’s parents. It was a wonderful evening. All of the kids had a great time running and playing and the adults enjoyed the company and the wonderful southern bar-b-que. The big day finally arrived and unfortunatly so did some rain! The ceremony was set for outdoors, so we were all a little nervous leading up to the ceremony. In the end, the bad weather cleared and Nick and Heather were able to get married outdoors as they had originally planned! Phew! The ceremony was beautiful. Heather and Nick had each guest right a single word on a rock that would summarize a wish for their marriage and during the ceremony, they collected the rocks. It was really moving and I know that those rocks will always bring them beautiful memories of their wedding day and of all of the friend and family that shared it with them. Nick and Heather were both emotional during the vows and it teared me up to watch a good friend get married. After the ceremony, the couple joined all of the guests for the cocktail hour. After that followed dinner and dancing. It was such a fun evening and everyone stayed until the very end. The next morning, we were up very early and we met Heather and Nick at their rental house so that we could head out to the beach and do sunset pictures. It was quite cold that morning but Heather was a trooper! We got some amazing images. At the end of the session, Nick grabbed a camera and took some images of his beautiful bride. Thank you Heather and Nick for letting Shad and I and our family be a part of your wedding. We wish you a lifetime of happiness and love!
Below are some of my favorite images. I’m sure that I will update the blog with some more as we finish editing all of them. Enjoy!

We’ve never had a wedding where we had two ceremonies on the same day. I will explain that in a moment. Erin and Duncan are a great couple! They crack us up and were one of the funniest couples that we’ve worked with! They were married on September 19, 2009 at the Wiedemann Hill Mansion in Newport, Kentucky. It is a beautiful location with an amazing view of Cincinnati. All the details were gorgeous thanks to Heidi at I Thee Wed Wedding Planning. The day was perfect except….. right before the ceremony, the officiant realized that the marriage license was from Ohio (where the couple resides) but we were in Kentucky. They quickly worked out a plan to drive across the state line after the ceremony and perform a second ceremony in Ohio before the officiant had to rush off to another wedding. Shad and I drove the couple across the state line and photographed the street-side second ceremony and then whisked them back in time for the reception. It was quite a day and certainly one wedding that I will always remember! This was all a little stressful for Erin, hopefully she can giggle about it now!
Here is the when Erin and Duncan saw eachother before the ceremony so we could get all of the formals done before the wedding! It was a beautiful moment!

Here is the second ceremony of the day – back in Ohio for a few minutes and then we quickly returned to Kentucky!

The reception was gorgeous! It was fun to photograph all of the details.

Amy and Matthew were married on September 12, 2009 at Country Club of the North. The couple saw eachother before the ceremony and we shot at some of my favorite places in Dayton. Afterwards, we headed back to the club for a beautiful outdoor ceremony. The weather was perfect. We had a great time at the reception. The details were amazing and the music was great thanks to the Jack Garrett Band . It was a perfect day. Congratulations Amy and Matthew!

This was one of my favorite flower shots of the year. All of the flowers were from The Flowerman. They always do a great job!

Ok – so not everyone was happy!

Shad and I left St. Mary’s Ohio and headed back to Dayton. On Sunday September 6th we were up early and on our way to Chillicothe Ohio to photograph the second wedding of the weekend. We really love photographing in a new place so we were really excited despite all of the miles we were traveling this weekend! Meredith and Jason were married at her mom’s house and everything was just beautiful.

Thanks to Meredith and Jason for sharing their special day with us!
